With only a few more weeks left before the really cold weather hits we have been living up as many Fall activities as we can outside. Little man loves to help daddy clean up the leaves so at every chance he gets he tells us that he needs to go clean leaves with his lawn mower “snowblower”. We have enough trees so it has kept him pretty busy, but he loves it!

This weekend we took a quick trip to the local apple orchard. We decided to go to one of the larger apple orchards in our area unfortunately it usually is the most crowded. We did find that if you go right as they opened (we got there about 15 minutes ahead of time) parking was full but the wait lines for the food were non-existent. I heard more than one person say they waited a half hour for donuts by going in the afternoon.

Fall Fun

Despite the cold weather Saturday night we had “movie night” to watch the Notre Dame vs USC football game. Once a year (or so) we like to break out the projector and bonfire pit to watch a movie or football game projected onto our garage. Kids love it and it is a fun way to hang out and spend time with friends. The only downside is that somehow it always manages to be 40 degrees when we decide to do this.

Luckily we had some fall treats (and wine) that we had picked up at the apple orchard to stay warm with by the bonfire.

There is no doubt that my favorite fall treat is Caramel Apple Cider. Specifically, Biggby Caramel Apple Cider. Unfortunately, I live in Northwest Indiana where there is no Biggby to be found (anymore). This typically means that Biggby Caramel Apple Cider is a (very) rare Fall treat for me. This year I took matters into my own hands and tried to recreate what I could of my favorite caramel apple cider.

This year I’ve decided to pick up a couple of gallons of apple cider from our local apple orchard and make my own caramel apple cider twice a day every time my craving hits.

We’ve had to keep all ingredients on hand for the last few weeks and it has been a wonderful treat. Luckily, I’m the only one in my house who likes apple cider so that means I’ve had even more reason to make caramel apple cider. You don’t want it to go to waste, right?

Looking for a quick Fall warm up? Drop everything and run to the store right now (or check your fridge), here is how to make the best caramel apple cider.
