Pleasure in the Rain – Nashville Part Four

Pleasure in the Rain - Nashville Part 4After finishing Ready to Reach for the book tour, I decided to keep reading. Inglath Cooper had me kind of hooked on this series. One thing I did notice as the series went on is that they were between 90-150 pages so they were very quick reads. If you are looking for a great little series that you can read in a weekend (or two plane rides across the Atlantic ocean) I would recommend checking out the Nashville series!

If I thought the cliffhanger at the end of Hammer and a Song was a rough one, the cliffhanger at the end of What We Feel was even worse! Not worse in a way that I hated it, worse in a way that I immediately had to start Nashville Part 4 – Pleasure in the Rain.

Synopsis

Just as Barefoot Outlook begins to hit the big time, tragedy strikes when a rage-filled Nashville musician who hasn’t found the success he’s hoped for crashes an after-concert party and begins shooting. Among the victims are band members CeCe MacKenzie, Holden Ashford, Thomas Franklin, Beck Phillips and his country music star dad, Case.

With each of them gravely injured, one will not survive, forever changing the lives of everyone involved. Will one man’s hatred and contempt demolish all of their dreams, or will they eventually reach a place where they can even take pleasure in the rain?

My Thoughts

As much as I hate the reality of a book like this, I am a huge fan of authors who address real issues. The Nashville series could have ended (or been one book) with the signing of Case’s tour. We could have watched Cece, Holden, Thomas & Beck make a name for themselves as Barefoot Outlook and end their lives on a happy note. Inglath Cooper reminds us that it’s not always a happy ending & that sometimes even the rich and famous need to take a step back and figure out what is important.

I loved that this entire book focused on the three main band members getting their lives back together. It wasn’t just a snap of the fingers and life was good again for them.

As for Case, I wish we could’ve seen more of him throughout this book. He was mentioned a lot but I felt like there were a few things missing that could’ve been filled in. What happened with Lauren? Is Cece’s mom his new girlfriend? I really hope these are answered as we go through the rest of the series. I really like him and my heart broke when Beck was killed.

The ending of the book finally gives Cece fans a reason to smile. The first four books are worth reading, just to see how it ends!
