You are missing out if you haven’t tried homemade golden milk as a coffee creamer. One of the biggest shocks of eliminating gluten from my diet meant finding a dairy-free & gluten-free coffee creamer. After years of fancy coffee creamers, I wanted something with a little flavor but something that wouldn’t destroy my stomach.

I had seen the golden milk trend a few years ago but never tried it. Instead of just drinking it straight for the gut health benefits, I started drinking it as a gluten-free coffee creamer.

From that point on, it was love at first taste.

Benefits of Homemade Golden Milk

Golden milk has been part of Indian culture for centuries. Looking at the benefits of it, it’s hard to question why. The main benefit of golden milk is its immune-boosting properties thanks to the spices that are used in it.

The third ingredient used in this recipe is Turmeric. When you question why homemade golden milk is golden, it’s because of the turmeric, which is known to reduce inflammation. Reducing the inflammation in your body is one of the key ways to boost your immune system and improve your health.

Turmeric also contains a compound called curcumin. There are mixed studies, but many researchers believe that this compound can lower anxiety and depression.

Then comes ginger. If you’ve ever cooked with ginger, you might know that a little bit of ginger can go a long way. It is a great way to settle nausea in an upset stomach and help heal your gut. Some studies are starting to show that it can help with weight loss, lower blood sugar, and possibly prevent heart disease.

Last, using local raw honey as a sweetener can improve your allergy symptoms, heal a sore throat, and help digestion.

How To Use Golden Milk as a Gluten-Free Coffee Creamer

To make the golden milk a little bit creamier as a gluten-free coffee cream, I mix 1/4 of a cup in my milk frother before adding it to my coffee. The recipe listed below makes about one week’s worth of Golden Milk. It’s been added to my Sunday meal prep, so it’s always stocked up and ready to go.
