For years and years, my go-to chili recipe has been Rachael Ray’s Uptown Down Home Chili…until I was diagnosed with Celiac. While the recipe is fantastic, it does require beer, and I haven’t spent the time to venture into gluten-free beer.
I did what I always do: I called my mom and asked for her chili recipe.

Making Gluten-Free Chili
Chili doesn’t have to be a complicated recipe. There are hundreds of different recipes, some with noodles, some with bacon, some with pumpkin, etc… There are so many ways to make chili that it is a dish that means something for everyone.
This gluten-free chili recipe is simple and takes less than 15 minutes to prepare on a busy weeknight. Let it simmer on your stove while you tackle homework, get a kid ready for after-school activities, or warm up the fireplace for a cozy night with snow out the window.
The meat piece of this recipe is up to you. We prefer to do a half-and-half recipe in our house. However, you can absolutely do 2 lbs of ground beef or 2 lbs of ground turkey. Both are delicious and work with the flavor of the tomatoes and spices.
Chili isn’t complete without some form of bread to go with it. As someone who lives a gluten-free lifestyle, it can be hard to find bread that is up to the taste and still dips well into soup or chili. However, grab a box of King Arthur Cornbread Mix to make alongside your chili; you won’t regret it. While it can be a little crumbly, it fits right in with the flavor.
