Gluten-Free Meal Plan For Beginners

Gluten-Free Buns

The bun is the foundation (and gluten-filled part) of any sloppy joe recipe. Going gluten-free doesn’t mean compromising texture or taste. There are so many different gluten-free buns available that your options are kind of endless.

Local grocery stores might not have a good selection depending on the season. I love using Thrive Market or Amazon Subscribe & Save to keep buns stashed in the freezer so I can grab them anytime we need them.

The secret to a good gluten-free bun is toasting it lightly. Gluten-free bread, in general, can often be dry, but once you toast it and add your sloppy joe mix to the top, it’s delicious!

Creative Twists for Different Seasons

You don’t have to get bored with gluten-free sloppy joes; you don’t always need to eat them on top of your standard bun.

Try serving the sloppy joe mixture over baked potatoes. The fluffy texture of a perfectly baked potato pairs so well with the tangy sauce, creating a unique twist on a classic dinner.

Alternatively, go low-carb and pack the mixture into hollowed-out bell peppers before baking them to perfection. This option cuts carbs and adds a natural sweetness to your dinner.

Whether hosting a summer BBQ or prepping a weeknight dinner, these creative spins ensure everyone can enjoy this classic meal with a unique taste.

Storing and Reheating: Keeping It Fresh

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stove or microwave, adding a splash of water to maintain the sauce’s consistency.
